The Art of Writing Poetry

 

Why do we poets write poetry?

Does some cathartic urge

Compel us to expel our thoughts,

Our tortured souls to purge?

 

Perhaps it is just plain delight

At being in this world;

A synergy with nature;

Just another leaf unfurled.

 

How do I write my poetry?

How does it come about?

I simply open up my mind

And let the words flood out.
